My name is Andrew Herfst. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). I provide counselling and psychotherapy services to folks with concerns like anxiety and depression, stress, trauma, relationships, and personal development.
My approach is values-centred and combines psychodynamic, behavioural, and existential-humanistic perspectives. In short, to better understand who you are, I focus in depth on who you’ve been, the changes you are aiming for, and what matters most to you.
Life can be turbulent and being hurt is a given. Often our habitual defences against pain muddle things. Sometimes we’re left alone when we shouldn’t be. Occasionally we just get stuck or lost. A powerful resource is our social nature. We help and are helped by other people. I see counselling and therapy as an art and science of relational inquiry and care.
Simply put, my aim is to offer understanding, encouragement, and support in a friendly and confidential space. I believe there is great value in paying attention to how we feel, exploring different ways of thinking, and developing skills to help us act in the world in accordance with our highest values; in other words aspiring for psychological flexibility, embodied presence, and heart-centred action.
